Welcome Back to the world of Lorah Kelly (Part 2)

In the last blog post I wrote about how I am coming back into the world of business and gaining my confidence as a business woman as opposed to a girl with a hobby :) I've had a great response so I thought I would carry on with writing about what is happening behind the scenes in the world of Lorah Kelly!

So my next step to build my business was to update my website! I had been thinking of ideas for a while in my time off and slowly coming up with a design concept to re launch Lorah Kelly. My final thought was that I needed a bit more colour and life in my logo! But how could I do this without changing my logo? I didn't want to change it too much or people wouldn't recognise it, and with such a small business I couldn't afford to loose my recognisable logo! So I thought about and tried things, I asked people's opinions and looked for inspiration until I found something I was happy with.  So believe it or not, the purple swish that you see in my logo actually took months to come up with. But I feel that it was the perfect addition to the Lorah Kelly Logo :) Also, you can expect to see it everywhere, in anything that I do, the swish will be there! If you look through the website, you will see the 'swish' in various sizes and colours making every page look perfectly Lorah Kelly. It is now a part of the business!

And then there was my tag line, or slogan. Again, although it seems like a simple task, it took months to perfect! I needed one line that sums up everything I do, and its a lot harder than you might think! :P Although this challenge was just to find a suitable tag line, it really helped me to think about my business and what it was I wanted to do exactly. I had to really think about what services I had offered in the past and what services I wanted to offer in the future. I had to think about what has been most successful, what images people were drawn to the most and what feedback I got from clients or people looking at my photos. I did several business exercises to define what I do as well as really thinking about what I am passionate about and what I enjoyed the most. I also sat around a table with a bunch of trusted individuals who were going through the same process and discussed ideas together! And this is where I found out exactly what Lorah Kelly is all about :) Lorah Kelly is about capturing life's precious moments! My goal as photographer is to be really involved with the individuals I am photographing, really get to know people and know their story. I realised I love people. I am passionate about relationship and personality! (which is so strange as I am very introverted and find it difficult to be naturally sociable!)
My goal is to have at least one defining photo from a shoot that really captures who the people are, what they are going through and how they are feeling. My ambition is to capture those moments, moments that will be lost forever in time and preserve them into a beautiful image that can be kept forever! Thus, preserving that moment forever :)

So, that was all about my logo, tag line and I even managed to squish in a little bit about what I do! hehe

I would just like to encourage anyone who is in the process of starting a business, or even if you are already in business, to do these exercises! Really think about what your logo represents and really think about your tagline and what is it exactly that you do! I have got SO MUCH positive feedback once I made these changes and I really feel that people understand the business and what its about just through these simple things :) And these simple things are also what forms people's first impression about your business! So think about it ;) And thank you so much fro reading this post! I really hope that it is able to help somebody in business as well as just let you know how much work goes into this business :)

Have a lovely day! x
