Welcome back to the world of Lorah Kelly! (Part1)

Hello lovely blog readers! Sorry for being away so so long, but I have been very busy getting married and starting a beautiful new life with my wonderful husband :) But finally, I am back! And I am incredibly excited :) I started this blog post as a short update of what I am doing in the business this year and I didn't realise just how much I had to say! So I have decided to split it into separate posts :) Im not sure how many.. I will just keep going until I run out of things to write about! So here goes part one...

With my time off I have been thinking a lot about the business, how to improve my services, how to improve my skills and how to really build a business! I am determined this time round to be really passionate about what I do and be good at what I do. I have realised just how much work it is to be in business and run a successful business rather than a hobby. So to anyone who is interested in what it is really like starting a photography business, continue reading this post. If you're not really interested..I would appreciate it if you read it anyway :P

I started this year by joining the King's Daughters business network for women.  It has been a great experience and I haven't even begun to get fully involved in the group! It is such a lovely group of women who are really passionate about their business, and it has been so inspiring just to sit and listen to what all these women have to say. I have learnt so much already just by listening and observing(what I do best!), but now I fully intend to get more involved in the group :) This is a massive step for me as I am very shy and easily intimidated by people who 'know what they're doing'! But one thing this group has taught me is just to be myself! I don't have to fit into any boxes and I don't need to be afraid to let people see the real me :) I also don't need to pretend to have everything together, in fact it is much more beneficial to me to let the girls know how 'not together' I am as there is such a lot of help and support in the group and I am confident that if I need help with anything, there will be someone willing to be there for me and my business! If you are a women in business, I strongly recommend you join a King's Daughters group!

As well as joining the group, I have been attending all the business workshops which are really amazing! I went without any knowledge of what I was doing with a database, or a business plan and went away at the end of the day not only with knowledge but a completed database and business plan! I have only been to two workshops so far but I plan to attend them all! Also, I recently found out that there is a possibility that my workshop certificates could count towards a business NVQ someday, which is would be a big accomplishment for little arty farty Lorah ;) My confidence has really been boosted since joining the group and attending the workshops, which ultimately means a much better service for my clients! (Yay!)

So this time round, Lorah Kelly really means business! (pun totally intended!) I am really looking forward to the future and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for Lorah Kelly.

Until next time! Thank you for taking the time to read this post :) Lots of love x
